[VANCOUVER, BC, FEBRUARY 13 ,2025] – The ALS Super Fund, a Charitable Impact Cause Fund, led by former NHL player and ALS advocate Mark Kirton, continues to break new ground in the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). As the only charitable fund in North America that unites multiple organizations in the pursuit of a cure, the ALS Super Fund is once again at the forefront—this time as the recipient of proceeds from two 50/50 draws during the highly anticipated NHL 4 Nations Face-Off tournament in Boston.

The ALS Super Fund has already made history as the only initiative to receive the backing of the NHL and all 32 teams. Now, thanks to this landmark partnership, the Super Fund will benefit from 50/50 draws during two critical games:

  • February 17, 2025: Sweden vs. USA

  • February 20, 2025: Championship Game (Teams TBD)

Because the ALS Super Fund collaborates with numerous charities dedicated to finding a cure—rather than being tied to a single organization or location—it is uniquely positioned to ensure that funds are distributed effectively, maximizing impact in the fight against ALS.

While the ALS Super Fund operates across North America, all proceeds from the 50/50 draws in Boston will be allocated to Boston-based ALS charities. Organizations under consideration for funding include:

  • Pete Frates Foundation – Founded in honor of Pete Frates, the former Boston College baseball captain who inspired the global Ice Bucket Challenge, this foundation continues his legacy by supporting ALS patients and funding research.

  • ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) – A global leader in ALS research, headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, dedicated to discovering and developing treatments.

  • Additional charities may be added as funding decisions are finalized.
