Thanks to the ongoing efforts of Mark Kirton -former NHL player- the seven NHL teams united to support the ALS Super Fund hosted by Charitable Impact.

To exalt this initiative, its reach and attract more support, a video that highlights the NHL's commitment to the Fund and how the Fund is working to #EndALS will be shown in all NHL stadiums during the 50/50 raffles. Likewise, radio interviews have been conducted before sporting events to generate more interest in support of the cause. The latest media activations took place on January 9th and 10th on the 630 CHED station in Edmonton, aiming to promote the proceeds from 4 upcoming 50/50 raffles of the Edmonton Oilers, with the participation of Kirton himself and Kevin Moorhead, Senior Director of Cause Funds at Charitable Impact.

"I just want to say this guy is a true Canadian hero. Seeing Mark Kirton fighting ALS has been the most inspiring thing I've ever seen, and he set up this Super Fund because we know there's a cure out there. And the only way we're going to get it is if we all work together", said Moorhead to Reid Wilkins from 630 CHED radio station, adding that the former NHL player got everyone to "play on the same team".

As described by Kirton during the 630 CHED radio station interview, "ALS Action Canada is the only patient-led group in Canada. It started to amplify the patient voice to start to make some noise to get some action". ALS Action Canada created the ALS Super Fund, whose fundraising is carried out through a giving group hosted on Charitable Impact.

Since its creation, over $840,000 has been raised, with a goal set at $3 million. The Super Fund has a panel of ALS experts defining the direction of funds towards impactful projects. Since it is part of a patient-led initiative, it ensures that research policies and decisions in Canada reflect the voices and perspectives of those most affected by ALS.
