Our CEO and Founder, John Bromley, talked with Richard and Matt from the WealthSmarts podcast about generosity, the importance of charitable giving, and how at Charitable Impact, we are making it easier for our donors to make the change they want to see in the world.

In this first episode, they discuss that while generosity is natural for us as humans, the reason why people should give goes beyond a tax receipt and that giving is "really about going inside our hearts and our minds and then attaching to our wallets to pursue a mission in life that we actually care about and giving back in that context," according to Bromley. (07:43)

"I think that also there's a lack of good experience from giving. You feel like you're being sold to all the time. Give to this, give to that. And giving is much easier to do and more fun, it's way easier to be generous in other words, when it comes from inside you and goes out towards the things you love." John Bromley, (10:19)

Is there a dearth of generosity in Canada? The podcast pointed out that there's not a dearth of generosity but rather a lack of information and education about how to carry it out. There's a lack of good experience in giving because of how the donor is addressed. They are generally approached as a sale rather than something that comes from their own initiative or relates to something they care about. In that way, Bromley says that "It's really important to talk about what people love. And then they start gushing about all the different things, and it's really quite personal to them. And then they put the dots together that they should do something." (10:39)
