Vancouver bustles with activity during the summer. Neighbourhoods are taking advantage of the endless days of sun, offering unique events that will keep everyone entertained throughout the season.  

There are a lot of events in this city that are not just about the fun, but are designed to encourage connections between communities and to celebrate diversity amongst the neighbourhood. We at Chimp have curated a list of some of the best community events to hit Vancouver this season.

Canada Day Celebrations

On July 1st, the entire country comes together to celebrate the nation’s anniversary. There are a variety of Canada Day events happening throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Make sure to check out our latest blog post to find an event near your community!

West 4th Avenue Khatsahlano Street Party

The West Avenue 4th Khatsahlano Street Party is an annual summer event, showcasing local musicians, artisans, and street performers. The main premise of this event is to preserve and celebrate the laidback and free-spirited vibe of the neighborhood. Since its founding in 2011, it has become the largest music and arts festival in Vancouver.

Carnaval del Sol

Carnaval del Sol’s vision is to connect BC communities through cultural exhibitions and art. This festival includes a variety of displays, celebrating the culture of Latin America. With 300 musical acts, arts and crafts displays, and a Latin American-inspired fashion show, Carnaval del Sol is one of the biggest Latin American Festivals in the Pacific Northwest.

When: July 9-10, 2016 from 11AM-10PM
Where: Concord Pacific Place, Vancouver

Caribbean Days Festival

The Caribbean Days Festival is a celebration of Caribbean culture, offering a variety of fun events, including a private Caribbean boat cruise, multicultural street parade, and entertainment. This two-day festival overflows with rhythm, colorful cuisine, and vibrant culture.

When: July 23-24, 2016 from 10AM-7PM
Where: Waterfront Park, North Vancouver

Pride Festival

Vancouver Pride Society presents the Vancouver Pride Festival to celebrate diversity amongst the LGBTQ community and their allies. The event incorporates a variety of fun elements including the Pride Festival at Sunset Beach and the annual Vancouver Pride Parade. This year, we’re proud to recognize On Purpose’s Danny Ramadan as one of the parade’s grand marshals.

When: July 31, 2016 from 11AM-6PM (Pride Parade starts at 12PM)
