Charitable Impact

Elite athletes rely on the generosity and support of others to help them reach their goals. The Olympians below know this, appreciate it, and want to give back to their communities as a way of saying thanks. They’re role models in more ways than one.

By joining these athlete’s Giving Groups, you can support their Olympic dreams and charity at the same time. And every $1 that you give will be matched by the Elysium Foundation (a private foundation based in Vancouver) – so you get to support them twice as much.

Nikola Girke, a windsurfer, is raising money for CAN Fund, CKNW Orphans’ Fund, KidSport and the Vancouver Friends for Life Society.

Ashley Brzozowicz, a rower, is supporting 60 Minutes Kids Club, Canadian Tire Jumpstart and CAN Fund.

Richard Hortness, a swimmer, is raising money for KidSport, Habitat for Humanity, Swimming Canada and CAN Fund.

Krista Guloien, a rower, will give money raised to ALS Society of BC, Canadian Cancer Society BC and Yukon Division, CAN Fund, and Rowing Canada.

Darcy Marquardt, a rower, will give the money she raises in her Giving Group to University of Victoria Athletics, Canadian Parkinson’s Society, Canadian Cancer Society BC and Yukon Division, CAN Fund and Rowing Canada

Andreanne Morin, a rower, hopes to raise money for Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, Quebec Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Clean Air Champions, Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation and CAN Fund.

The entire Women’s 8 rowing team has a group that is raising money for the Canadian Rowing Foundation, Go Rowing and Paddling Association of Canada and the Dragon Flies Breast Cancer Survivor Group.

Each cycling team has also set up a Giving Group to raise money for Cycling Canada that will help fund young cyclists – the next generation of Olympians. Every $1 raised in these groups will be matched by John Henry Bikes.
