Another one of Chimp’s Client Success Team members, Michael Beaty has been focusing on helping companies engage their employees and customers in giving — and tell their giving story in the process. He loves all things tech, so if you’re in need of tech support, Michael is here to help.

Nickname: Beaty

What brought you to Chimp?
I was looking for an organization and a team where I could be part of the company evolution, share my experience, and learn. Chimp’s involvement in charity campaigns, not only as the donation facilitator, but as the storyteller, was one of my main draws to applying at Chimp.

What’s your favourite part of your job?
My favorite part is connecting with new individuals, charities, and organizations and helping them to increase their charitable impact and achieve their philanthropic goals.

What project are you most proud of?
I’ve been working with 25 local tech companies in preparation for TechPong this year. Last year TechPong raised over $72,000 for charities, and this year is shaping up to be even bigger. Being a part of the planning and implementation process, both with the companies involved, and the charities they will be fundraising for, has been an awesome experience that I am already proud of.

What’s the first thing you do when you get to your desk every morning?
I take a look at the news and see what’s been happening in the world overnight, check in with my team, and prepare for my day. But all of that comes after an incredibly large cup of coffee.

What cause is most meaningful to you and why?10450828_10202244162171739_7598731555640153489_n
I’ve always been a strong supporter of children’s welfare and support groups. I grew up in a small community and learned early on the struggles that families can face from a young age. Kids should be able to be kids, and charities supporting child hunger, after-school care, and sports clubs are all endeavours that are close to my heart.

What’s your favourite way to spend the weekend?
We’re spoiled for choice in Vancouver so it could range, depending on the weather, from a hike, to swimming to ultimate, to heading to a coffee shop with a good book. Being active and trying new things is always on the weekend agenda.

If you could wave a magic wand and change one thing in the world, what would it be?
I would change the world so that no one would ever go hungry.

Tell us something most people don’t know about you.
I can make balloon animals.
