Two people in a heart for GivingTuesdayNow

We have seen a swell of generosity from Canadians and donors on our platform. We are keeping the momentum going with several #GivingTuesdayNow initiatives.

Typically, Giving Tuesday takes place in November as a reminder and rallying call to kick start charitable giving amid holiday sales and gift buying. This year, #GivingTuesdayNow, happening on May 5th, is all about getting the message out about the increased needs in the charitable sector amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

During this time of great need, we have been heartened to see the resilience, generosity, and adaptability of Canadians’ and Canadian charities. Charities have quickly adjusted to meet emerging needs and created initiatives to fund the response to COVID-19 on our platform. Donors have stepped up to donate.

We are so proud to see that donors on our platform have upped the momentum to giving to causes involved in the COVID-19 response. We have seen a 400% increase in giving to a shortlist of charities that fall under this category.

Perhaps most notably, we found that donations on our platform towards the Greater Vancouver Food Bank doubled in 2020 so far, compared with all of 2019. So far in 2020, donors have given $52,000 to the Greater Vancouver Foodbank through our platform. Of this, $38,000 was allocated in April alone, compared with $21,500 for all of 2019.

To keep the momentum going we have a number of exciting initiatives for #GivingTuesdayNow. Read on to learn more…

#ChooseYourImpact to help guide giving at this urgent time

We understand most of us don’t have the time or resources needed to make the most informed giving decisions. That’s why we have launched the #ChooseYourImpact Campaign, connecting you to passionate changemakers and thought leaders — called Impact Ambassadors.

Impact Ambassadors are diving into the range of causes across the charitable sector, starting with those affected by the COVID-19 crisis. With their insight, Impact Ambassadors are selecting charities offering an outsized and immediate impact on meeting current needs. Learn more and browse through the lists of where you can give.

Join the #GivingTuesdayNow movement. We all have something to change. Together, let’s make it happen.
