Watch: Is my donation making a difference?

Stay connected and engaged with the charities you support to see the impact of your generosity.

Wouldn’t it be great if every time we donated, we just knew for sure that the donations we were making, whether it’s our time or our money, we were making a huge impact? 

Part of it is that the more engaged you are with your giving, the more you’re going to know. If you’re not super close to the organization you’re giving to, what are some of the things you can do? 

I would recommend things like signing up for their newsletter, staying in touch with their website, and following them on social media so you can get regular communications from them and get some feeling as to how they’re doing and what type of programming they’re really focused on. 

Secondly, if you really know the charity a bit and you have a specific program that you want the money to go towards, feel free to tell the charity that when you’re giving them the money. 

Last but not least, the best way to get to know a charity, at least in my experience, is to volunteer with them. We really want to advocate getting engaged with the charity, staying close to them, and being involved with more than donating money.

Charities need that time from us, but it’s also a great way to get to know the charity to determine for yourself whether you think your money’s making an impact or not.
